Can I Feed My Puppy Raw?
Posted by Marc Tremblay onYes!
In fact both my dogs started on raw their first day home! And many breeders now wean their puppies onto raw!
There isn't a whole lot different from feeding an adult raw vs a puppy. But a few notable things that should be considered:
1. Offer a balanced diet at each meal
2. Avoiding red meat may be considered for the first 6+months
3. Supplements such as phytoplankton, probiotics & colostrum are beneficial to all dogs, but especially puppies.
When feeding a puppy you should either feed 2% of the expected adult weight, or if you don't know that weight feed based off this chart:
2-3 months old: 8-10% of their current weight in pounds per day
4-5 months old: 6-8% of their current weight in pounds per day
6-8 months old: 4-6% of their current weight in pounds per day
9-12 months old: 3-4% of their current weight in pounds per day
Always feed 3x a day until at least 6 months old
